Show off your new place and be interviewed here!

12 Aug

In New York City, you can know someone for years and still have never seen their apartment. This is one of those New York things — life here is lived on the street and in cafes; our apartments are often too cramped to entertain friends.

I’d like to change that, however: I want people to see your new place! Big or small, messy or clean, artfully decorated or movie-postered. Those of us who live here AND those who don’t tend to be very interested in what our quirky New York apartments look like. (See: All the rooms in my current place flank a hallway no wider than a bowling lane.)

So, SEND ME YOUR PHOTOS! That snapshot can show your moving-in process in your apartment or dorm, your newly arranged space…anything that shows your personality. You can be in the photo or not — up to you! If you’d rather just photograph a favorite spot in your new neighborhood, that’s great as well!

I will collect the photos for the next few weeks. If I choose yours, I will contact you for a short “New New Yorker of the Week” Q&A to go right on this here blog! Attach the photos and e-mail me at sarah.protzman@gmail.com. Have fun!

I took this photo the day I moved in to a studio share off Madison Avenue. (Yes, I shared a studio.)
